This course is designed for direct care staff who provide support to individuals who may exhibit behaviours that impact services. Participants will enhance their comprehension of behaviour and its functions.
Additionally, participants will develop an understanding of Positive Behaviour Support, including its underlying values and the framework in which it is implemented. They will acquire the knowledge necessary to comprehend behaviour and its functions.
The course equips participants with the skills to identify the functions served by different behaviours and determine when intervention is necessary and appropriate.
This enables the utilisation of Positive Behavioural Support as a guiding principle, the application of person-cantered values, the completion of basic behavioural observations to inform functional assessments, and the ability to apply their learning to the implementation of proactive, secondary, and reactive strategies within a positive behavioural support plan.
