For staff working across the health and social care sector the work they do can often be difficult to process. Often working compassionately alongside people who have experienced traumatic events can be a challenge.
There is a significant requirement for us to build the resilience of the workforce to be enhance their skills and understanding in this area. There is growing evidence based that shows us that have a more trauma informed workforce increases staff retention and provides employees with greater job satisfaction.
This full day course is broken down in to two sessions. Session one focuses on Gaining a better understanding of trauma, how we can recognise if someone has experienced trauma, the effects it has and what happens to the brain when trauma occurs.
Session two concentrates trauma informed ways of working that will benefit organisations and individuals in being able to provide a trauma informed approach across all aspects of the services they provide.
This also explores minimising of traumatisation and staff skills to enhance staff resilience and recognition of their own stressors to be able to work effectively with people who have experienced trauma whilst minimising the impact on the workforce's mental health.
