It would be beneficial for staff members across all fields who want an understanding of how individuals with neurodiverse conditions perceive the world as well as the importance of ensuring equal opportunities for everyone through appropriate support and understanding.

What’s Involved?

The course adopts a person-centred approach to Neurodiversity and Autism, focusing on individuals' strengths. You'll explore how stigma, trauma and environmental factors affect mental health and how to support people.

Additionally, it covers the prevalence of Neurodiversity and Autism, the diagnostic process, sensory processing, and strategies for adapting to support individuals with a diagnosis.

Our training covers various key areas including:

Understanding the differences between Neurodiversity, Neurotypical and Neurodivergent.

Identify the challenges and strengths some people with Neurodivergence may experience.

Identify Autism facts and Autism myths.

Learn different ways to enable Autism friendly environments.

Learning Outcomes

Be able to explain the differences of Neurodiversity, Neurotypical and Neurodivergent.
Be able to explore the different diagnosis associated with the Neurodivergent Umbrella.
Be able to identify some of the challenges and strengths that some people with Neurodivergence may experience. 
Appreciate how the use of strengths-based focus is beneficial for people with Neurodivergence. 
Be able to explore the prevalence of Neurodivergence in the UK and begin to recognise how awareness of Neurodivergence can begin to change these statistics.
Be able to identify the main characteristics of Autism and explore how this relates to the function of the brain.
Be able to understand the diagnosis process of Autism, including the Social Characteristics, and explore the limitations to the process.
Be able to explore the prevalence of Autism in the UK.
Examine the Autism Spectrum and appreciate how no two people with Autism are the same.
Appreciate how the use of strengths-based focus is beneficial for people with Autism. 
Be able to identify some of the challenges and strengths that some people with Autism may experience
Examine different ways that we can enable Autism friendly environments and explore how we can adapt our approaches to the different needs of people with Autism. 
Be able to identify what are Autism facts and what are Autism Myths.
