Safeguarding children and young people is a legal obligation as stipulated in Section 11 of the Children Act.
This provision mandates that key individuals and relevant organizations must develop strategies to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people they encounter.
The objective of this course is to provide training and enhance the skills of professionals across a range of sectors to ensure staff in these roles are well equipped with the skills and knowledge to effectively safeguard in any situation.
Within this course there is a close examination of the different types of exploitation and the grooming process, equipping learners with the necessary knowledge to identify if a child or young person is being abused and/or groomed for exploitation.
The course covers various aspects of safeguarding children such as current legislation and guidelines, how to identify different forms of child abuse, and the strategies to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people. As a learner, you will gain valuable insight into child criminal and sexual exploitation, county lines and know what to do if you are worried about a child or young person.
This training session takes place in a classroom setting over 6 hours for up to 20 learners, and through open discussions, real-life case studies, and group activities, learners will build both practical skills and the confidence to apply them in real scenarios.
Upon completion of this course, learners will:
Explore current safeguarding responsibilities and how these apply to their role.
Learn to identify the various forms of abuse and exploitation, including cyberbullying, FGM, and county lines.
Understand the grooming process and how it presents across different types of abuse.
Know how to respond if they are concerned about a child, including how to make a safeguarding referral and support someone disclosing abuse.
